Privacy policy
Last updated: October 9, 2026
1. Who we are
This policy explains how Folio collects, uses and protects personal data, in accordance with Brazil's General Data Protection Law (LGPD, Law No. 13,709/2018) and, where applicable, the GDPR. Folio is the controller of the data processed in the service.
2. Data we collect
Account data: name, email and password, stored only as a hash that no one can read. Usage data: date of your last sign-in. Content: projects, presentations and their version history, themes, uploaded images, Library items and any reports you submit. We also receive technical data needed for the connection to work, such as your IP address.
3. How we use it and legal basis
To create your account, authenticate you and store, display and sync your content (performance of a contract). To keep the service secure, prevent abuse and moderate the Library (legitimate interest). To comply with legal obligations and respond to authorities when required (legal obligation). We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.
4. What other people can see
Your content is private by default. A presentation becomes visible to anyone with its public link only if you create one, and stops being visible when you make it private. Items published to the community Library are visible to all signed-in users, along with your name. Uploaded images are served from a long, random address so they can appear on the audience screen and in PDFs; anyone with that address can see the image.
5. Sharing with third parties
We use infrastructure providers (hosting and database) that process data on our behalf and under our instructions. Slide fonts are served by Folio itself: when a theme uses a Google Fonts typeface that does not ship with the app, our server fetches it and passes it on to you, without sending any of your data to Google. Images inserted by external address are loaded directly from their original site. We may share data with authorities when required by law.
6. International transfers
Some providers may store or process data outside Brazil. In those cases, we adopt the safeguards required by the LGPD so the data receives equivalent protection.
7. Storage in your browser
We store in your browser your sign-in session, chosen language, last opened presentation and, for offline mode, copies of your presentations and images. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics tools. Signing out or clearing the site's data in your browser removes this information from the device.
8. How long we keep data
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we erase your personal data and content, except what we must keep to comply with legal obligations, for the period the law requires. Copies other users made of items you published to the Library belong to them and are not deleted.
9. Security
We use encrypted connections, hashed passwords and access control so each person only sees their own content. No system is fully immune to failures; if an incident occurs that may put you at risk, we will notify you and the competent authority, as required by law.
10. Your rights
You can request confirmation that we process your data, access, correction, portability, anonymization, blocking or deletion of unnecessary data, information about sharing, and the deletion of your account. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interest and lodge a complaint with the data protection authority (ANPD in Brazil, or the authority in your country). We will reply through the contact below within 15 days.
11. Children and teenagers
Folio is not intended for anyone under 18 without the permission of a parent or legal guardian. If we find data from a child collected without that consent, it will be deleted.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced on the site or by email, and the date at the top of this page shows the version in force.
